- S: Some serious reality bending here, even in a zombie-apocalypse context. They brush past a vague scientific explanation for critical features of the virus
that feel unfounded.
- C: Nothing particularly meritable. The zombies seem a bit reductive/lacking imagination.
- E: Pretty good pacing propped up by avoiding some common character tropes in apocalypse films.
- N: For a zombie movie, actually pretty solid conceptually. The film really only has 1 to 2 characters of note and avoids dragging down the plot with character exposition or stakes building.
Also, the global nature of the film and the political conflicts that arise when travelling from country to country are a highlight.
- T: The film received one bonus point for providing a semi-realisitc half measure to the zombie problem and its introduction through a complicated inter-continental network.
Some surprising nuance from what easily could have been a common-place apocalypse blockbuster. I am shocked this movie doesn't have a sequel, particularly given its earnings in 2013. Even I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to this.
