- S: The story has a few moments that don't connect well: particularly a phone call reaction relative to a heartfelt tv-viewing at the end, production agent's attempt to lose a contestant, a lack
of oversight on the contestants during the short breaks between filming, and some strange reactions from executives and poor adaptation to ongoing events.
- C: The production design is excellent and critical to the show. Costuming is great and really helps capture the time-period. However, there is some strange editing that really disrupts the flow of
the film, particularly a transition out of a studio tour and some of the quick editing around the scenes in the production booth.
- E: A fun watch with an interesting story, but some odd editing and unnecessary story tangents distract from the flow.
- N: Very interesting story based on truth. However, the dialogue between executives is very clunky. The story focuses a bit too much on the production elements, with a lot of repetition about
break times and studio nuances which only works sometimes. Also, given the ending, the story feels like it couldn't decide how to wrap up the film in a positive way given how negative the film was throughout.
Also, the production executives portion of the story ends in a way that is unsatisfying and a bit non-sensical.
- T: The film received one bonus point for a very strange moment on a talk show which is unexpected and almost breaks the fourth wall.
Interesting story even with its issues. The ending would have been spectacular if it had the proper set-up, the production design is interesting, but the story over-all is very downtrodden
even though the primary events taking place are spectacular and should be joyous. This juxtaposition works at some moments, but then fails to stick the landing in the end.
