- S: The insensibility of the gore and extreme emotions of the characters are clearly intentional and almost add deeper meaning to the film.
- C: This movie nails the blend of classic Hollywood style and extreme horror-thriller gore that Ti West had been aiming for with his previous films.
A bittersweet dance sequence, an oscar-worthy still-shot no-cuts monologue, and a horrifying end-credits take this film over the edge.
- E: Mia Goth pulls out all the stops and delivers her best I've ever seen. Last half of the film is gripping beyond belief.
- N: The story feels clear from the beginning, but will still surprise. Comfortable and shocking.
- T: The film received 4 bonus points: one for Mia Goth's brilliance, one for a horrifying monologue, one for the brilliant blend of
a classic hollywood romance with a modern thriller twist, and one for the film being wrapped with a perfect end-credit sequence.
After seeing X and Maxxxine, I broke my rule and went in with some rather low expectations. I came out of this film wondering where Mia Goth's brilliance
and writing talent was in the other two films. The last 45 minutes of the movie is jaw-dropping and had me on my feet pacing. Perhaps one of the best of its kind.
