- Sensibility: Shockingly sensible portrayal of high tension race relations, even with all the wild characters involved.
- Cinematography: Has a very clear sense of style that works well. Costuming and makeup are both stellar and really help communicate the heat which shadows over the whole film. The framing and production design are excellent and critical to the film's success. The close ups on yelling and angry faces are fantastic. Also has one of the most unique opening
credit sequences I think I've ever seen.
- Energy: It's a fun watch due primarily to great character writing, but it gets bogged down in repetition, particularly around the Italian brothers.
- Narrative: So many great characters involved, but there's some tiresome repetition in the middle portion around the Italian brothers fighting and yelling at Mookie over his deliveries. Also, not really sure it
nails the message it's going for.
- T-Points: The film received two bonus points: one for great dialogue and banter between the three friends in front of the red wall and one for a great scene where Sal destroys a radio.
This film has a lot to offer with great characters, great costuming, and a unique, and perhaps unflattering, portrayal of race relations.
