- Sensibility: The time travel elements create some moments and dialogue that are odd or perhaps misplaced, but these can fairly easily be explained in terms of the grand metaphors the film is capturing. Overall, however, the narrative is far too glamorous and jovial even in the dark themes it explores.
- Cinematography: Has some great visual work but also a lot of tropes and derivative visuals that are over-done. Some bits with umbrellas and rain are repeated to a nearly obnoxious extent. However, production design is cheeky and costuming is interesting.
- Energy: Undeniably romantic, fun, and emotional watch. A great bit of theater also gives the film a bit of a musical vibe which plays well into the non-literal nature of the narrative.
- Narrative: The film is a romantic, fate-inspired love story with a lot to offer. It attempts to tackle the challenges of people's pasts when getting into relationships, but these concepts were left a little unexplored and lacking in reality. The film is also quite corny on the whole,
which takes away from some of the deeper thematic elements it is trying to tackle. However, the film has a great mystical element to it and has lots of the film that is laced in metaphor and is non-literal in a good way.
- T-Points: The film received two bonus points: one for a silent scream in a car and one for a son-possessed father telling his son he's special.
It's corny and too bright for some of its thematic elements, but on the whole I was pleasantly surprised for the film to be more than just the typical rom-drama slop, even if it wasn't a whole lot more.
